Before Eggs and Sperm are Obtained You will come to the first examination to the Ward 16 on Day 2 of your menstrual cycle. The first day of menstruation = the first day of the cycle. Day 2 of the cycle
What will you need to take with you on Day 3 of the cycle?
Day 3 to 10 of the treatment cycle The stimulation consists of intramuscular or subcutaneous administration of injections according to individualized schedules. The injections contain hormonal preparations promoting the production and maturation of eggs (oocytes). We differentiate among: traditional drugs - Humegon, Menogon, Metrodin, Pergonal
highly purified FSH hormone - Metrodin HP
recombinant FSH (the latest drugs) - Puregon, Gonal-F.
The injections will be administered by your gynaecologist. The health insurance company requires that fact of the administration be confirmed by the gynaecologist's stamp. Ovaria stimulation We use two types of preparatory protocols.
1. The short protocol: Synarel 4ml (Superfact) nasal spray is administered together with injections in the dose of two squirts twice daily into the nostrils, at 12 hour intervals.
2.The long protocol: Decapeptyl, possibly Zoladex, depot injections administered intramuscularly on Day 18 of the menstrual cycle or nasal spray Synarel 8 ml – administered from Day 21 of the menstrual cycle before the treatment cycle itself.
Day 8 to 10 of the treatment cycle
What will you need to take with you? (see Day 3 of the cycle)
Timing of the egg collection Retrieval of oocytes from the ovary is executed under ultrasound control through the vagina under analgesia or total anaesthesia. Immediately after the operation, you will be informed about the number of eggs obtained. If accompanied, you may be released from the hospital 6 hours after the procedure. On the day of egg pick-up, your partner will be asked to come between 7.30 and 9 a.m. to the Centre of Assisted Reproduction for sperm collection.
